The Blinn College District celebrated its fall Class of 2025 during the College’s 152nd commencement ceremony Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the Brazos County Expo Center.
The ceremony recognized 858 students who completed associate degrees, certificates, and occupational skills awards. Graduates included traditional students beginning their academic journeys and non-traditional students returning to college to pursue new opportunities while balancing work, family, and community responsibilities.
The program featured two student speakers, Rosana Herrera and Lane Hudson, whose personal journeys exemplify dedication, resilience, and the transformative power of higher education.
Herrera, who completed her studies on the Bryan Campus, was born and raised in Edinburg, Texas. She began her educational journey by earning her GED in 2008 through the University of Texas–Pan American’s (UTPA) High School Equivalency Program under challenging circumstances. She later enrolled at UTPA as an education major and continued her studies at South Texas College, where she discovered a growing interest in nursing. After stepping away from higher education to raise her four children, Herrera returned to college with renewed determination and quickly distinguished herself academically. She earned placement on the Chancellor’s List, reflecting her strong work ethic and outstanding performance in the classroom.
“Every advisor and professor I met made this process easier and less overwhelming,” Herrera said. “You didn’t just help me get through the classes, you helped me believe I could keep going, and that confidence means everything to me.”
Driven by a desire to uplift others, Herrera hopes to build a career that will allow her to help people in meaningful new ways and ultimately pursue her long-term goal of becoming a philanthropist. She will continue her studies at Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, where she plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Hudson, who completed his studies at the RELLIS Campus, was born in Humble, Texas, and raised in Bryan/College Station. A licensed vocational nurse (LVN), Hudson is known for providing compassionate, effective care and for his ability to foster a positive work environment. His professional path began as a fireman and paramedic, experiences that sparked his passion for healthcare and inspired his continued focus on service. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing chess, and deepening his study of biblical theology.
Hudson is currently pursuing his registered nurse licensure through Blinn’s Associate Degree Nursing Program and plans to continue his education with the goal of building a career in intensive care.
Registration is now open for Blinn’s winter minimester and spring semester. The winter minimester runs Dec. 15-Jan. 8 and allows students to earn transferable college credit in a condensed format. Spring classes begin Monday, Jan 12.
